who is WKDE

(pronounced weekday).

coined as “Captain Save a Vibe” — word to Chelsea —, WKDE is a hip-hop head turned DJ whose humble Central Michigan University beginnings has led to shows at SXSW, Kindred Fest, Afrofuture Fest, and an opportunity at being the opening act for Fat Boy SSE at El Club in Detroit.

when not being the backing DJ for Knowledge The Kid and SWRM! Records, WKDE can be found fiddling with Ableton. with dreams of being a remixed-based producer in now in sight, WKDE hops to translate the genre-bending bounce that is curates during sets into original flips of art; WKDE is heavily inspired by the likes of Kaytranada and Tuamie, and has gone as far as watching their Boiler Room sets more than 12 times, just to get a feel for their music.

fun facts: WKDE is a huge Avatar: The Last Airbender fan so any reference of the show is more than appreciated. their top 5 favorite artists of all time are Kendrick Lamar, Yasiin Bey, Phife Dawg, The Game (heavy sigh because he’s problematic) and Black Milk. WKDE thinks Timbaland is such an underrated producer and that house music should be played at all functions.
